For many years we’ve been performing impossible balancing acts to keep the Caostica International Short Film and Music Video Festival, Tracking Bilbao and Gizazinea alive. And when we say ‘balancing acts’, we’re talking about sleepless nights, budgets cobbled together with a cheap calculator, and the superhuman ability to pull off events on a shoestring, with duct tape and faith in chaos.

But in NeoBilbao, the cost of living is rising: rents, printing costs, travel, hotels and even the price of a pint are reaching obscene levels… and the modest grants we apply for don’t always materialise. For several years now, we’ve been left ‘at the gates’ of certain funding schemes. The standards required are getting ever higher, and we’re expected to ensure that the activities we organise generate revenue in their own right.

For these reasons, before we end up selling our cast-off organs at the dosdemayo market… we have decided, amongst other measures, to charge an entry fee for some of the activities at the Caostica Festival from this edition onwards. We hope we can continue to count on the support and solidarity of our beloved loyal audience so that the events we organise can continue to take place, imbuing the minds of NeoBilbao’s residents with strange, free and fun culture… To reward and build loyalty among our devoted followers, we are launching…
